This is a post from my horseforum.com thread that I started when I got Max. I’m so lucky the forum is still around and I was able to go back and add it to Lipizzan Life.
The vet did his pre purchase exam today and he passed with flying colors. There were only two small abnormalities on his xrays but she said they both were very small and wouldnt get worse as long as he was well maintained. She and the farrier looked at his hooves and said he most likely would never need shoes, and with daily riding wouldnt need much trimming either. The farrier is a regular visitor to my stable, so Maximas will be trimmed as soon as he needs it.
I’ve decided to just take the foot picking up in stride. He randomly decided to throw a fit about me picking up a foot one day — oh well, I’ll just be stubborn and keep at him to give it to me and I know it will just mellow out and he’ll forget he was taking a stand about it in the first place.
He was so good for his vetting. He just stood there the whole time with a blissful “people are petting on me” look. That and he kept trying to eat the vet and vet tech’s hair. Which was hilarious
